About Us
Greater Burlington Partnership
The Greater Burlington Partnership is the identity for the overall organization which includes the Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development, Convention and Visitors Bureau and Downtown Partners, Inc.
Chamber of Commerce
The Chamber of Commerce exists to serve as a catalyst for economic growth and community development. The Chamber of Commerce is funded by membership dues from 675 members in Des Moines County and surrounding areas. We also hold a variety of fundraisers throughout the year to raise additional funds.
Economic Development
Economic Development Division's mission is to retain and add jobs, enhance the tax base and continuously improve the business climate in Des Moines County. Funding for the Economic Development Division includes donations from a pledge campaign.
Convention & Visitors Bureau
The Convention & Visitors Bureau attracts visitors to our area and offers them information on a wide variety of attractions, entertainment, shopping, restaurants and other amenities they may be interested in. The CVB is funded through the local hotel/motel tax collected from visitors who stay in our local hotels, motels or bed and breakfasts. Most cities you stay in have this type of tax.
Downtown Partners, Inc.
Downtown Partners, Inc.'s mission is to preserve and revitalize Downtown Burlington within the context of historic preservation. The goal of Downtown Partners is to enhance the economic, historical and cultural features of Downtown Burlington. Funding contributions for Downtown Partners, Inc. comes from contributions from the City of Burlington, property owners, business owners and others. Funds are needed for DPI operations and programs of work. Property owners in the Downtown area contribute through the Self Supporting Municipal Improvement District (SSMID) tax.
