History of Flint Ridge

History of Flint Ridge Business Park (FRBP)

Caterpillar Corp. had plans to locate a manufacturing facility in Burlington during the 1980's. Land had been secured, site plans had been drafted, and some construction had begun on what was to be a 1,000,000 s.f. facility. When a corporate decision to pull out of the project was made, community members and the Burlington Area Development Corporation (BADCO) worked together to secure the 300+ acre site for a planned business park. An agreement between Caterpillar Corp. and BADCO was signed on December 21, 1990, and the park was officially dedicated on October 16, 1992.

Today, BADCO is now named Grow Greater Burlington. A fantastic partnership has been formed between the City of Burlington, City of West Burlington, Des Moines County, and Grow Greater Burlington to market and development the site. Over half of the acreage in the park has been sold and developed and four shell buildings have been built. Three have been sold since the park's inception.
