Committees

The Greater Burlington Partnership is made up of many volunteers who help to accomplish the goals set for by the members and Boards of Directors. If you are interested in volunteering, there is a spot for you!

Membership Development Division
Division Leader, Mary Delzell, Farmers Savings Bank

Ambassadors, Committee Chair: Cathy Meeker - Extends a welcome during the Ribbon Cuttings, Business After Hours, Learn and Discover, and New Member Luncheons. Meets the second Thursday of each month September-May at 8:00 am.

Membership Growth, Committee Chair: Open - Works on issues related to prospective and current members. Continually identifies prospective members and reviews marketing materials. Reviews new ideas related to current member benefits. Meets on a quarterly basis.

Innovation Roundtable, Committee Chair: Open - A think tank. A roundtable discussion format and is topical in nature. It is a time when volunteers can bring new ideas for the Greater Burlington Partnership to the table. Meets on a quarterly basis.

CBA Golf Classic - The Chamber Business Appreciation or CBA Golf Classic is one of the largest fundraisers for the Chamber of Commerce. The task force meets to plan and implement the annual event held on the last Thursday of August. Meets March-August.

Annual Dinner - The Annual Dinner and Fundraiser is one of the largest fundraisers for the Chamber of Commerce. Community awards are presented to deserving candidates and a silent auction is held. Volunteers work to plan and implement the annual event typically held in the January or February. Meets September-February.

Women's Networking - Works to set the schedule for the Women's Networking events that are held monthly. Each volunteer will be asked to find a topic and presenter for one month of the schedule. Meets September - November.

Business Development Division
Division Leader,Jerry Krause, MidWestOne Bank

Business Retention/Expansion, Committee Chair: Sue Frice - Conducts existing industry calls and coordinates the small business and manufacturer's appreciation events. Next year's added focus will be on conducting existing industry calls with small service and retail establishments and restarting the 'best practices' series. Meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 am.

Downtown Development, Committee Chair: Ron Billups -Works on issues primarily devoted to Downtown Burlington including the Quiet Zone, redevelopment of buildings, and attraction of downtown businesses. Meets the first Tuesday of each month at noon.

Workforce Development, Committee Chair: Open -Will address the issues, both present and future, of workforce shortages and closing the talent gap. This is a new committee, therefore a standard meeting time has not been established.

Greater Burlington YP, Committee Chairs: Aaron Baltisberger -This is the Young Professionals group welcoming anyone under 45. 'Professionals' is loosely defined as anyone working or living in the Greater Burlington area. Annual dues are $45.

Future Workforce, Committee Chair: Michelle Williams -Coordinates the 5th and 8th grade career fairs and focuses on developing our youths for future careers. Meets the third Tuesday of each month at 4:00 pm.

Entrepreneurial, Committee Chair: Open - Devoted to promoting entrepreneurship and small business development. Will oversee the business plan competition and access to small business networking/resources. This is a new committee and, therefore, a standard meeting time has not been established. It will have a roundtable discussion format with small business service providers.

Business Attraction, Committee Chair: Open -Will help plan the outbound marketing missions and will assist in planning prospect visits to both Greater Burlington and the region. This committee will also be a think-tank for property reuse and targeted industries. This is a new committee, therefore a standard meeting time has not been established.

Value-Added Ag, Committee Chair: Mike Pierson -This committee has moved to a roundtable discussion format and is topical in nature. Each month, we tackle an issue or opportunity facing the ag-related sectors. Information is shared and prospect questions get answered here. Meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 am.

Internal Marketing, Committee Chair: Open - Will develop a plan to market the organizations within the Greater Burlington Partnership and the Burlington/West Burlington Community. This committee will be responsible for educating and informing the local community and members of the Greater Burlington Partnership happenings through different marketing media's. This is a new committee; therefore a standard meeting time has not been established.

External Marketing, Committee Chair: Open - Develop and implement a marketing plan to bring visitors, recruit new businesses, and new residents to the Burlington/West Burlington Community. This is a new committee; therefore a standard meeting time has not been established.

Downtown Retail Promotion, Committee Chair: Dianne Boyd of Di's Photography - Coordinates activities for the Downtown Retail base. Assist in coordinating events that tie into the four main special events held each year. This committee is devoted to creating a unique shopping experience and activities that set them apart from the big box stores. Meets the last Tuesday of the month at 8:00 am.
